Match Report | Erith Town vs. Danson Sports Red
26/01/2020 – SelKent C White League
Another fantastic team performance.
Finally our first home game in the C division as we welcomed Danson Sports Red to Belvedere. The game got underway and each team played football the right way from the start, creating really good chances but only to find both goalkeepers in fine form. Each side was strong and fair in the tackle and you could see the game was going to be a very close one.
In the 20th minute, after some great play, Lewis put the ball through to Sharpley who shot from just outside the box, but the Danson Sports goalkeeper pulled off a fine save and the first half finished even.
The second half started the way the first half finished with both sides playing good football but neither side creating any clear cut chances. The 35th minute saw Erith win four corners on the bounce, but despite Barnett and Sharpley delivering on point Erith could not find a final touch to open the scoring.
Then in the 40th minute Erith opened the scoring. Lewis, after some great on-the-ball pressuring of the Danson Sports centreback and goalkeeper, the ball dropped to Giles to slot home and put The Dockers ahead. But Danson pushed for the equaliser and in the 42nd minute scored an great free kick from the left hand side of the box into the far right top corner – a great goal to make the game level. Both sides pushed hard for a winner but could not find a way through each other’s good defences and it finished honours even.
A good solid battling team performance. MotM this week went to the whole team for a great team performance.
On to next week now and our away game at Teviot Rangers White.
Match Report | Beacons White vs. Erith Town
19/01/2020 – SelKent C White League
A very difficult loss to stomach this one, but a fantastic team performance without the result to suit, for our first away game in the C white division.
The game started off with Dockers playing some excellent football and creating some goal scoring opportunities, but Beacons White were working hard to use the pace they have up front and hit Erith on the counter attack.
Erith continued to play the same way and both teams created good goal scoring opportunities but neither side could make them count until, in the 14th minute, Ould passed it to Giles, who squared it to Barnett, who put the ball through to Sharpley who finished in style to put The Dockers ahead. A great team goal!
It didn’t stay that way however. Beacons White came back strongly and scored two quick fire counter attacking goals just before half time to go in ahead at the break.
When the second half got underway the game was all Erith, playing some great football and really pushing hard for an equaliser with Barnett hitting the post and the cross bar in matter of minutes. Then Erith were caught on the counter attack again, another long ball over the top from Beacons White and their centre forward finishing at the far post to extend Beacons lead. Then within the minutes Erith conceded another and at this point it seemed a long way back for the boys.
But with 20 minutes still to go they refused to let their heads drop, and continued to play the football we’re used to watching them play, being rewarded in the 45th minute after some great work by Lewis who played a neat one-two with Sharpley and slotted the ball home to give The Dockers hope with 10 minutes still to go.
Erith were now camped in the Beacons half and winning corner after corner, then in the 45th minute the ball broke to Sharpley who finished to make to bring Erith within a goal of Beacons – game ON!
Erith worked tirelessly to chase the game and created so many chances, but the Beacons goalkeeper was in top form and difficult to beat and, in the final minute, the Beacons even managed a goal-line clearance to save the game.
The Dockers played some really good football throughout, and thoroughly deserved to get something out of the game. The boys showed great character in the way they continued to play good football and chase the game at the same time.
On to our next game Home to Danson Sports Red.
Match Report | Erith Town vs. Junior Reds Knights
12/01/2020 – SelKent C White League
Good team performance in our first C division game.
With the boys getting promoted to the C Division at Christmas, they knew they had to start this game quickly and at a high tempo. This they certainly did, playing some really good football and creating a few good chances too, but the Junior Reds goalkeeper and defence were proving hard to breakdown. Then, in in the 14th minute, Erith were rewarded for their dominance when Edler put through for Sharpley to coolly slot the ball home and put The Dockers ahead.
Following the breakthrough, the game mainly played out in the middle of the park, with both teams pressing and tackling really well, and winning the ball back for their side. Erith Town tried hard to see the game out to half time but were caught out on the counter attack and Junior Reds levelled right on the stroke of half time.
With the second half underway Erith found themselves having to defend for the first time in the match as Junior reds really tested the Dockers defence, but the boys stood firm and defended this opening period of the game really well. In the 38th minute Sharpley struck agin, putting The Dockers ahead for the second time after being put through by Pringle for a tap-in from close range.
Back came Junior Reds who were now really pushing for an equaliser, and they got it in the 42nd minute with a long ball over the top which their striker finished well to make it all square. Erith tried to push for a winner but found the Junior Reds goalkeeper in fine form and it finshed honours even.
A good solid team performance and our good run continues. On to next week now and our away game at Beacons White.
Match Report | Danson Sports Green vs. Erith Town
10/11/2019 – Selkent Cup Round Two
This Sunday’s game saw the U10s take on Danson Sports Green in round two of the Selkent Cup at the London marathon Ground.
With the prize of a semi-final place up from grabs the boys were fully focused and pumped up for the game. Both teams observed the minutes silence for Remembrance Sunday impeccably and it was The Dockers who got the game underway.
The Dockers were quick to shut down the opposition and looked to play at pace on the break with Sharpley, Lewis and Barnett, and this didn’t take long to pay off, as a long throw in from Coombs found Sharpley to break away and square to Lewis (1) to slot home in the 3rd minute.
Lewis returned the favour in the 9th minute squaring the ball to Sharpley (1) to put away and double the advantage. Lewis (2) then scored his second of the game in the 11th minute, put through by Barnett and cooly slotting the ball home. Some great tackling from the Dockers defence, Turner, Commbs and Edler kept the chances for Danson to a minimum. Then in the 12th minute, Edler found Sharpley (2) who cut inside and hit a terrific long range shot which found the back of the net. The 18th minute saw Hayes (1) score yet another great long range effort, after some great closing down by Giles. Giles then got his first of the game cutting in from the left hand side and again a long range effort ended with another goal for the Dockers.
It was the 23rd minute however that saw the Dockers score the goal of the game, a ball out of defence from Ould, was picked up by Lewis on the right hand side who turned his man brilliantly to loft a fabulous cross into the box for Giles to volley home – great goal!
The second half continued in the same way with the Dockers pushing to extend their lead, however they got caught on the counter attack in the 28th minute from the produced a good goal for Danson. This minor setback then spurred the Dockers on and again they were first to every tackle. Their pressure was rewarded in the 46th minute when Barnett’s long ball found Sharpley(3) on the right hand side, who cut inside to score, completing his hat trick. Then two minutes later Marchant found Giles to slot the ball home and complete his hat trick as well, and also complete the win.
MOTM this week went to Marchant who was outstanding in defence. But overall another great squad performance to keep the good run going and get us through to the next round.
Match Report | Erith Town vs. SC Thamesmead
03/11/19 – Selkent D White League Game
Another great win.
The dockers aimed to continue their great run of form and kicked the match off by putting Thamesmead under pressure straight away. With their first chance of the game Barnett put through Sharpley (1) who ran from the half way line to cooly slot the ball home. The follow-up came quickly when Barnett’s 5th minute corner was only cleared to edge of the area for Sharpley (2) to smash home. Then, within a minute Sharpley (3) completed his hat-trick, keeping up his fine goal scoring form by pouncing on a loose back pass to put The Dockers into a commanding lead.
Erith continued to play some great football and were rewarded in the 12th minute when Lewis had a shot handled in the area – penalty to Erith. Barnett stepped up to take it and the SC Thamesmead goalkeeper pulled off a good save, but Sharpley (4) reacted quickest to slot the rebound. In the 20th minute a fine run and cross from Lewis on the right side was slotted home from Giles (1), then in the 22nd minute came the goal of the game. A great throw-in by Lewis saw Hayes (1) volley the ball home from the left hand side of the area – a great strike. Then just before half time Lewis (1) was put through by Marchant to round two players and slot the ball for an impossible to beat half-time score.
The second half kicked off and the Dockers started as they finished the first half putting Thamesmead under great pressure only to find the their goalkeeper in great form. Erith increased their lead in the 27th minute, after a lovely move involving Giles and Sharpley, with Giles (2) slotting home.
The Dockers continued to play some great football but got caught on the counter attack in the 40th minute for Thamesmead to claw back a consolation goal but The Dockers eventually saw the game out to complete another great win!
Another great win and team performance from the boys, to keep this good run going!
MOTM this week was Lewis after great display in midfield and capping it off with a great solo goal, but overall another fantastic win!

27/10/19 – Selkent D White League Game
Another great performance!
The clocks may have gone back this weekend, but it didn’t stop Erith Town from putting in yet another great team performance. The Dockers kicked the match off and kept the ball really well, taking the lead within a minute when a great through ball from Coombs put Sharpley (1) through to slot the ball home.
This was followed almost immediately by another when Giles reacted the quickest to slot the ball home after a great save by the Welling goalkeeper. Erith continued to play some great football and were rewarded in the 11th minute when Lewis (1) finished from close range after a neat one two with Edler.
However, the 19th minute saw the goal of the game. Sharpley then completed yet another hat-trick in the 24th minute after a great through ball from the skipper, Ould.
The second half kicked off and the Dockers started as they finished the first half, putting Welling under great pressure only to find the Welling goalkeeper in amazing form. This was followed quickly by another when Hayes cooly slotted the ball home after some good work from Marchant, to score his first goal for the dockers, and a great way to complete the win!
Another great performance from the team, and really playing some good football, with the 4th goal coming straight off the training ground!
MOTM this week was Hayes after great display in midfield which he capped-off with his first goal, but overall it was yet another brilliant team performance that earned Erith yet another win.

An amazing squad performance.
The game kicked off with The Dockers pushing forward in numbers, and they took the lead within 2 minutes when a great through ball from Coombs put Sharpley (1) through to slot the ball home. One soon became two when Coombs again picked out Sharpley (2) with a lovely through ball to and he again finished with style. Sharpley (3) completed his hat-trick in the 17th minute playing a neat one-two with Lewis on the edge of the box and again coolly slotting the ball home to make it safe for the dockers.
Chances were coming thick and fast for dockers and the Eversley goal keeper was in fine form, however, the goal of the game came in the 17th minute. Erith passed out from the back and every player touched the ball, passing it and moving it really well with Lewis putting in Edler (1), who finished in style to finish off a 10 man passing move to make an unassailable lead.
The next goal came in the 23rd minute , with Barnett swinging in a corner for Turner (1) to smash home and the next followed on fast with Edler returning the favour to Lewis (1) and putting him through to smash the ball home in the 24th minute. Lewis repeated this trick with another assist, this time putting through Giles (1) to add another in the 25th minute.
The second half kicked off with The Dockers playing exactly the same way, putting Eversley under great pressure from KO forcing them back into their own half. They were repaid for this when Barnett played the ball through for Sharpley (4), who yet again slotted the ball home to keep up his fine goal scoring start to the season.

Match Report | Blackheath Rhinos vs. Erith Town
06/10/2019 – Selkent D White League Game
Another great team performance and an outstanding score line to match, the perfect way to bounce back from last week’s disappointing result.
The game kicked off with Dockers playing some excellent football, and with the pitch being the biggest pitch the boys will probably play on this season, they were keeping the ball really well, and created numerous chances to take the lead but found the Blackheath goalkeeper in fine form. However, the dockers nearly fell behind in the 10th minute, as Blackheath broke away on the counter attack, only for Apolline to produce an excellent one handed save at his near post to keep the scores clear.
Erith continued to play the same way and were rewarded in the 12th minute with Giles and Sharpley playing a neat one two in the Blackheath half for Sharpley (1) to coolly slot the ball home. The dockers quickly doubled their lead after some good pressure from Hayes to win the ball back in the middle of the park and then release the ball to Sharpley (2) to race clear, and again slot the ball home to double the dockers lead.
When the second half kicked-off the Dockers played exactly the same way, putting Blackheath under great pressure, forcing them back into their own half and creating really good chances to increase their lead, but again the Rhinos goalkeeper was keeping the Dockers at bay.
Erith increased their lead in 35th minute when Sharpley was put through by Lewis, for Sharpley (3) to lob the ball over the goal keeper and complete his hat-trick – his second in three games – and he soon added one more after a neat finish from close range in the 38th minute.
In the 40th minute a well worked short corner between Edler and Barnett, with Barnett putting the ball high into the box for Lewis to head just wide at the back post. Then in the 43rd minute Edler and Barnett combined again playing a short corner and a neat one two, for Edler this time to deliver a great cross for Lewis (1) to head in at the far post on his debut for a great way to complete the win!
The Dockers yet again played some outstanding football and thoroughly deserved the win.
MOTM this week was Sharpley, but overall it was a brilliant team performance that earned Erith yet another win.
On to our next game at home to Eversley Rangers.

Erith were now chasing the game and created so many chances but found the Eltham goal keeper in good form and difficult to beat. With the dockers pressing for an equaliser Eltham scored two good counter attacking goals in the final minutes of the game.
Despite the result The Dockers played some really good football and thoroughly deserved to get something out of the game.
On to our next game away to Blackheath Rhinos.

The boys started the game really well and played at a high tempo and had a few good chances, but fell behind against the run of play in the 8th minute.
